Adeolu is the partner heading the Governance Risk and Compliance practice at Aluko & Oyebode With over 29 years of legal experience combining practice as well as in-house roles across diverse sectors, including telecommunications, and oil and gas.
Throughout her career, Adeolu has been pivotal in managing legal and operational risks for large corporations, resulting in significant enhancements in their corporate governance and compliance. During her tenure as the Director of Legal Services at Etisalat Nigeria, Adeolu played a key role in shaping the organization’s legal framework and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. At Schlumberger, as Senior Legal Counsel (Compliance) covering Europe, Africa, and the Caspian, she spearheaded the development and execution of robust compliance programs, mitigating risks and ensuring adherence to multiple jurisdictions regulations. Adeolu also served as Company Secretary at MTN Nigeria, overseeing board and shareholder processes, corporate governance matters and related statutory compliance.
Starting with elements of data privacy and protection awareness from Europe whilst at Schlumberger, Adeolu has followed the development and unfolding of laws and the evolution of the regulator and regulatory land scape regarding data protection in Nigeria. She has advised several Nigerian and multinational clients, conducted comprehensive data protection compliance audits, provided services as a Data Protection Officer and the Firm as a Data Protection Compliance Organisation. She has also provided advocacy and defence support in regulatory reviews and investigations into allegations of data privacy breaches or offences; and also designed and implemented remedial programs to address gaps in compliance Her comprehensive approach to data protection ensures clients navigate complex regulatory landscapes, maintaining the highest standards and proactively adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
Adeolu’s expertise further extends to Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) advisory and services, internal investigations including establishing reporting and whistleblowing mechanisms.
Adeolu is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and boasts a rich educational background complemented by practical legal experience. She holds an LL.M. from the London School of Economics and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1995 after completing her LL.B. at the University of Ibadan.
